The Settlers New Allies Audio/Sound Not Working Issue: How to fix it

The Settlers: New Allies is an exciting game that provides players with an immersive experience, but it can be quite frustrating when the audio/sound doesn’t work as expected. This problem can be caused by various factors, and there are various solutions for its fix. In this article, we will provide a step-by-step guide on how to fix the audio/sound not working issue in The Settlers: New Allies.

1) Inspect Your Hardware:

The first thing you should do is inspect your hardware to ensure that it is not damaged. Check all the wiring to ensure that there are no frayed cables or loose connections. Make sure that all the cables are firmly plugged into the correct sockets. If you find any issues, replace or repair the damaged hardware before proceeding to the next step.

2) Check Another Device:

If your hardware appears to be in good condition, try using another device to confirm that the one you are using is not faulty. This could be another set of headphones or speakers. If the audio works on the other device, the problem may be with your original device.

3) Check the Volume Settings:

Make sure that the volume settings in the game and on your device are set to an audible level. You may have accidentally muted the game or lowered the volume. Check the volume mixer settings to ensure that the game is not muted or set to a low volume. If you have checked the volume settings, and the audio still doesn’t work, proceed to the next step.

4) Set Your Device to Be Used by Default:

To set the default audio device, right-click on the speaker icon located at the bottom right of the screen and select “Open sound settings”. Next, under the “Related settings” heading, click on “Sound control panel”. Highlight your device and select “Default device” from the drop-down arrow next to “Set default”. If you want to set this device as your default microphone, choose “Default communication device”. Finally, apply your changes.

5) Check the Channel Configuration:

To troubleshoot audio input and output issues, changing the sample rate and bit depth can be useful. For Rocksmith+ or similar games, this can be done for both the Real Tone Cable and the headset. To set the sample rate and bit depth for audio output, users can navigate to the Windows Start menu, select “Control Panel”, and then choose “Sound” and “Playback” to select the playback device they want to configure. They can then select “Properties”, choose the “Advanced” tab, and change the option in the drop-down menu to “16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality)” in the Default Format section. Similarly, to set the sample rate and bit depth for audio input, users can select the recording device they want to configure and follow the same process. It is important to note that the drop-down options may differ slightly on Windows 11.

6) Disable the in-game overlay:

If you are experiencing sound issues while playing the game, it could be due to a conflict between the in-game Ubisoft overlay and the game itself. You can follow these steps to disable the overlay and resolve the issue:

  • Open Ubisoft Connect and click on the top left icon.
  • Go to settings and click on the “General” tab.
  • Disable “Enable in-game overlay for supported games”.
  • Return to the Games section and launch The Settlers.
  • An alert message will appear about the in-game overlay being turned off. Choose the option to not display this message again and click “Continue anyway”.

Well, rebooting the game might also be effective in fixing this issue. In conclusion, The Settlers: New Allies is an exciting game that provides players with a thrilling experience. However, when the audio/sound doesn’t work correctly, it can be quite frustrating. If you encounter this issue, follow the above steps to try to fix it. If all else fails, get in touch with support, and they will assist you in diagnosing the issue.
