V Rising’s recent v1.0 release has shifted the attention of many new players to the game, with some returning players entering the scene too. As many expect from a full release, V Rising has been polished, but there are still various features missing. The lack of full controller support and official Deck compatibility are a few of the features lacking in the game right now. What’s more is that not all the bugs that persisted in the game’s early access version have been fixed. Well, the Stuck in Combat bug in V Rising has been troubling players since its early access days, and it still haunts them even when the game’s full version is released. That said, if you are encountering the same issue, consider reading this guide, as we have shared a few workarounds for you to fix it.
Your character in V Rising has an open world filled with vampires and other dangerous creatures to explore. As you navigate through the areas, you will encounter these enemies, during which your character will enter combat mode to fight them and incur a combat debuff. Well, if you beat them or die, your character will return to its normal state, and you can continue exploring like nothing happened. However, due to a bug, even when you kill every enemy, your in-game character gets locked in combat mode as the debuff doesn’t go away. So, is there anything you can do to fix it? There are some workarounds you can try.

As of now, there is no official fix for this issue since the developers have yet to acknowledge it. However, it has been reported on the game’s bug reports forum, so eventually, the developers should fix it, considering that they do acknowledge it. Until then, here are a few workarounds worth trying:
1) Restart server
If your character is stuck in combat mode, consider restarting the server and checking again. And if the issue persists, restart the game itself.
2) Clear enemies in the area
Make sure that all enemies in the area are dead. If you have missed even one, your character will still be in combat, which is why the debuff won’t disappear. Once you are sure that no enemy is alive near your character but the debuff doesn’t go away, consider running for a while to a different region and checking again.
3) Load previous save
If you have the habit of saving in-game progress regularly, then getting rid of this bug is just one step away. All you need to do is reload a previous save where the bug didn’t exist. However, if you don’t save progress regularly, doing so can set you up quite far behind in terms of progress. So, try this at your own risk.
4) Dying
Vampires, as you already know, can die. So, to get rid of this “in combat” bug, consider dying a few times. You can either die by the hands of the enemy, or by the vicious rays of the Sun. While you are at it, make sure that your horse is also dead. After you respawn, the bug should no longer exist.
5) Steer clear of enemies that can despawn
As per reports, it seems that the issue primarily occurred after players either cleared a cart or even attacked it. So, if you encounter such enemies, stay away from them until an official fix is released.
6) Use the Unstuck Option
You can also try selecting the Unstuck option and then checking if the buff goes away. For this, press the ESC button to access the game’s pause menu, and then click on the Unstuck option. If it doesn’t, try the next workaround.
7) Start fresh
If the issue persists, there’s nothing left to do but start a new game. Since this bug is quite stubborn, it is possible that none of the mentioned workarounds will be helpful. If that’s indeed the case, starting your journey from scratch is the only thing you can do.
That said, these are the only workarounds you can try for now. If any related information is made public that fixes this issue, we will update this guide accordingly at the earliest.
