To really make your home a smart home, just installing smart devices is not enough. The most important property of smart devices is that users can control and manipulate their features to make it more personalized. This control and manipulation can only be achieved with apps that allow users to control the devices. The Vivint app is a service that is used to control the smart home products offered by Vivint. You can monitor your devices and make sure your house is safe. But what if the app does not work on your device? Well, if that ever happens, here is a list of troubleshooting steps that you will find helpful. Take a look!

Fixes for the Vivint app not working:
Restart app:
Close the Vivint app and remove it from the list of recently used apps on your device. On mobile devices that have gestures enabled, users can access this list by swiping up from the bottom of the screen to the middle. Now open the app again to check if it works.
Check internet connection:
For the smart home devices to work in sync with the Vivint app, it is important that all of them are connected to a stable internet connection. This internet connection is usually the home wifi network. You can troubleshoot your wifi connection by power cycling the router. Unplug the router from the power cable and wait for 30 seconds. Then plug the power cable back and check if the network is stable now. If not, contact your ISP for further suggestions on the issue. Once your internet connection is fixed, the Vivint app and all your smart devices should work fluently.
Restart device:
Performing a quick restart is probably the easiest way to fix the problem. The Vivint app or any other app for that matter of fact can be affected by system-generated errors. These errors can only be fixed by restarting or rebooting the system. So restart the device on which you are using the Vivint app. And then open the app to check if it is fixed.
Clear cache files:
If you operate the Vivint app on an Android device, press and hold the app icon. Then select the info icon or the option called “App info”. Then go to “App storage” and select the “Clear cache” option.
To do the same on an iOS device, go to Settings > General > Storage > Vivint app > Offload app. After this, open the app to check if it is working again.
Delete and reinstall the app:
This is the only troubleshooting step suggested by the Vivint support page. Reinstalling the app will get the most updated version of it on your device and remove any corrupted cache files. Uninstall the Vivint app and then open Play Store or App Store depending on the device you use, and install the app again. Log in to your account, and connect the devices again if needed. This will most definitely fix the problem you are facing with the Vivint app.
Contact support:
If none of the troubleshooting steps mentioned in the article worked, it is in your best interest to contact Vivint customer support.
