VTOL VR is a virtual reality jet combat simulator game that was released on August 3, 2017. It’s one of those games that lacks on the graphical side, making it a perfect all-rounder game that can even run on low hardware. VTOL VR grants you the power of military might and advanced weapons and missiles that you can use to delete your target off the map. Since it tries to simulate a real-life fighter pilot experience, expect some complicated controllers, just like Microsoft Flight Simulator. While piloting an aircraft, most simple missiles are easy to fire, but the problem comes when you are expected to use a guided missile. That’s why in this article you will learn to use GPS-guided bombs in VTOL VR.
The GPS-guided bombs are exceptionally challenging to fire. To fire these bombs, you must mark the locations beforehand. If the target starts moving, then it’s a lost cause, and if you do not follow all procedures carefully even then, it’s a lost cause. That’s why you should know everything about using this weapon during your in-game tasks.
Vtol VR: How to use a GPS bomb?
There are two GPS-guided missiles in this game. The first one is GBU-38, and the other one is GBU-39. The GBU-38 can be used as a single, pair, or pack of three when firing. However, the GBU-39 can be mounted as a set of three as well as four. Also, the GBU-38 carries more explosives, while the 39 is lightweight and can travel greater distances. But both of them have enough firepower. Now let’s see how to use them:
Selecting the Targets
First comes the difficult part. Before you can fire the guided or GPS bombs, you will have to get the coordinates of your targets. To do so, follow the given steps:
- Click the GPS option on the display to your right. The option can be found in the bottom-right corner.
- Now, access the left display and click on New Group.
- Then use the TGP option from the second display, which should be towards the left of the GPS option.
- Now, use the SOI feature to find the targets. Use the Zoom + and – options to pinpoint the targets, and once you see something like IFF: FOE blink on the screen, press the GPS-S option. This will mark the targets and load the data to be used by the missiles. After this, make sure that the Master Armed Switch is on.
- Now check the first display and verify that the target coordinates have been successfully registered in a new group.
Initiating the firing sequence
Now that the coordinates of the targets are loaded, it is time to fire your weapons.
- First, equip the guided bombs you want to use. For this, head to the display on your right and select the Equip option.
- Now, make sure that the GBU-38 or GBU-39 weapons are armed and ready. Now, start looking at your HUD. Now you will see that there are two circles in it.
- The bigger circle indicates the target locations with an arrow.
- Steer towards the first arrow present in the outer circle and make sure that it’s at the top of the HUD.
- A diamond will appear, which will indicate that you are indeed flying towards your target. Wait for it to fit inside the inner circle.
- Now, squeeze the trigger until the bombs are dropped.
Note: There are three target modes for the GBU-38: manual, auto, and dumb. Make sure that it’s set to auto before firing it. The missiles will launch and hit the target automatically, according to set coordinates.
