There are certain solutions that you can apply to get over the ‘checking for updates’ issue in the game. Therefore, go through every solution thoroughly for the best results.

1) Restart the game:

The first thing that you need to do is restart the game. To do so, you can close the game’s process via the Task Manager.

2) Restart your system:

You can also restart your system to avoid any temporary glitch or error that might be hindering the updates of your game.

3) Check Xbox Live’s servers:

You can also make sure if the servers of Xbox Live are working or not. To check the server status, you can go here.

4) Install the Xbox app:

You can also install the Xbox app on your system if it isn’t there already. You can download the app from here.

5) Re-login to the game:

Close the game and go to Start> Settings> Email & Accounts> Accounts used by other apps. Now, go to the Microsoft Account from which you are also signed in to the game and remove it. After this, open the game and sign in with the same account that you removed from Settings.

6) Check the network connection:

Make sure that you have a proper internet connection and are getting proper downloading and uploading speeds. You can visit a network testing website for that.

7) Run the game as administrator:

You can also try running the game as an administrator by searching it on the Windows menu. After that, right-click on it and select “Run as administrator”.

8) Re-install the game:

You can also try reinstalling the game if the problem persists. However, make sure that there are no residual files left in your system from the previous install. For example, delete the folders like community, manual cache, official, and rolling cache. To access the location of these files, you can visit here.

9) Reinstall Gaming Services

To do this, search powershell in the Windows Search bar and right-click on the Windows Powershell result. Next, select the Run as Administrator option. Now, run the following code and press Enter-

“get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers”

After this, copy the following code and press Enter-

start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN

Make sure to click on Yes when the prompt for installing the application appears. After installation, restart your device. This will reinstall gaming services on your PC and might fix the checking for updates error in MSFS.
