Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (TOTK) has a wide spectrum of armaments that you can add to your collection. Tears of the Kingdom arguably has more weapons than its prequel, Breath of the Wild. While old weapons returning to TOTK serve as fan service, there is also an abundance of new weapons. Lately, players have been wanting to get hold of the Gloom Sword in the game. So we’ve put together a comprehensive guide, discussing the best way to acquire it.
There are many weapon choices to choose from in ToTK. Weapon types in the game range from one-handed melee to two-handed melee, boomerangs, spears, rods, and bows. Therefore, you can dynamically change your weapon types on the fly to suit your playstyle. Two-handed weapons have slow swing speeds but hit like a truck. Spears are fast but deal less damage. One-handed weapons lie in the middle, so they are the most beginner-friendly weapons to use. The Gloom Sword is a one-handed weapon that deals a base damage of 41. So, how can you acquire it?
Zelda Tears of the Kingdom: How to Get and Find Gloom Sword
The Gloom Sword is a one-handed sword with a menacing appearance. The base damage of the sword is 41. Its passive ability is Gloom Toll, which damages Link when wielded. You can bypass the Gloom Toll by infusing the weapon with another weapon so that you get the same damage output with the passive ability removed.
How to Find Gloom Sword
To find the Gloom Sword, you need to find the Gloom Hands and Phantom Gannon. The Phantom Gannon is a mimic boss of Ganondorf, the main antagonist of TOTK. Start your journey from Lookout Landing, Central Hyrule (-0254, 0102, 0018), and head southwest at the coordinates (-2777, -0772, 0100). The coordinates should take you to the southwest of Satori Mountain. Jump off the nearby cliff and look for the Tamio River Downstream Cave, Tabantha Frontier. Finding the cave can be tricky since it is well concealed by the surroundings. So here are the coordinates to the cave: (-2915, -0788, 0095). Follow the obvious path inside the cave, and you should arrive at the boss’s location. Don’t jump down into the arena just yet. Stay on the high ground.
How to Get Gloom Sword
You should have already noticed the Gloom Hands in the distance (blood-red-colored slimy substance on the ground). Use bomb arrows or fire arrows to shoot the Gloom Hands down. The enemy won’t be able to reach you, thanks to the high ground you’re standing on. When the Gloom Hands are finally dead, that should spawn the Phantom Gannon.
When the Phantom Gannon spawns, you should be able to hit a few free arrows, again thanks to the high ground. So, use bomb arrows or other infused arrows that deal the most damage. If you’re a fast bow aimer, you should be able to stun the boss constantly with bomb arrows, preventing it from teleporting to your location.
But if you are inept at aiming or have slow aiming speed, the mini-boss will teleport to your location and throw you down into the arena. Beating the mini-boss now becomes a challenge, but not impossible. You have to fight head-on with the Phantom Gannon using whatever weapon you have at your disposal. Additionally, you can parry a few hits from the bosses using your shields to ease the fight. When you finally defeat the Phantom Gannon, it will drop the Gloom Sword as loot.
