Zelda Tears of the Kingdom (ToTK): How to get the Scimitar Of The Seven and The Daybreaker Shield
While acquiring them in Zelda: ToTK is not difficult, it is a lengthy process. So make sure to read the entire article, as it involves a few tricks to make the process of acquiring them faster.
Missing Owner Side Quest Start
Start from Central Hyrule and head to Gerudu Town, located in the central Gerudo region in the southwestern corner of the map. Here are the coordinates to Gerudo Town: (-3845, -2926, 0044). Head to the jewelry shop (-3837, -2877, 0095) and talk to Cara. This will start the Missing Owner side quest.
Note: You need to finish the Lightning Temple to start the side quest.
Molduga Boss Fight and Save Isha
From Gerudo Town, head west towards the Toruma Dunes. Eventually, you will find yourself in a fight with Molduga. After defeating the boss, you will automatically get involved in a conversation with an NPC named Isha. After the conversation, return to Cara (and Isha) in Gerudo Town.
Note: Make sure you have heat-resistant recipes and/or armor sets to cool your body temperature. The Toruma Dunes (and Gerudo in general) are notorious for unbearably warm temperatures.
The Missing Owner Side Quest End/Pride of the Gerudo Side Quest Start
When in Gerudo Town, talk to Cara and Isha, and you will get yourself a diamond. This will complete the Missing Owner side quest. But wait. It’s not over yet. Wait for Cara to head inside the jewelry shop and then talk to Isha. She informs you about the Scimitar of the Seven and the Daybreaker. Run through her dialogue and start the “Pride of the Gerudo” side quest.
Guarantee the Gerudo Scimitar or Gerudo Shield Trick (Part 1)
After initiating the quest, go to the West Gerudo Underground Ruins, located to the north of Toruma Dunes. Here are the coordinates: (-4673, -1986, 0024). Stand in front of the entrance, away from the aggro radius of the Shock Like, and make a manual save of the game. This is crucial. Why? Well, you will know.
The Shock Like can be identified by a giant blob clinging onto the walls of mountains that shoots balls of electricity. When it reveals its spherical tongue, shoot it with an arrow, and it will get stunned. Quickly hit the tongue with a melee weapon until it dies. After its death, it will eject a treasure chest from its mouth.
Now comes the trick. Open the chest. If you find the Gerudo Scimitar or Gerudo Shield, you’re good to go. If not, load the manual save you made before fighting the Shock Like and repeat the steps to guarantee yourself either of the two weapons.
Guarantee the Gerudo Scimitar or Gerudo Shield Trick (Part 2)
Next, head down into the West Gerudo Underground Ruins. You should notice a small hole in the ground near the place where you defeated the Shock Like. Follow the obvious course of the passage and turn right. You should find yourself at a dead end. But wait, it’s not a dead end. Draw your bow and infuse it with the Bomb Flower. Start raining bomb arrows at the rocks. One Bomb Flower-infused arrow won’t do the job. So make sure you have enough of them in your inventory. Once the path is exposed, head inside. But don’t go too far because another Shock Like is waiting for your arrival. Hence, make sure to create a manual save one more time before engaging in the battle.
As you might have guessed, you need to perform the same set of steps that you did for the first Shock Like. This time the difference is that you need to acquire the other item that you couldn’t get from the treasure chest of the first Shock Like. So for example, if you got the Gerudo Scimitar in the first chest, this time you should aim to get the Gerudo Shield, and vice versa. So keep loading the manual save to guarantee the item that you’re looking for.
Gather 3 Diamonds
You need at least 3 diamonds to acquire the Scimitar of the Seven and the Daybreaker Shield. The easiest and quickest way to get diamonds is to buy them from Goron City. Here are the coordinates (1657, 2440, 0341). Talk to Gonguron to buy diamonds that cost 1000 rupees each.
If you don’t have enough rupees, there are alternatives, albeit slower methods. You can mine diamonds from ores that have yellowish sparkles. Keep in mind that whether you will get diamonds or not is a coin flip, so you might have to mine ores multiple times before you get them.
The second alternative is you can beat a Talus mini-boss (giant rock golem), and it releases a huge pile of all sorts of gems. Diamonds can be one of them; again, it’s not a guaranteed way.
The third alternative is to feed Dondons luminous stones so they can excrete diamonds. Once again, you may not get a diamond on the first try, but you will eventually get it. You can get more information on this by visiting this article.
Gather 10 Flints
Make sure you have at least 10 Flints in your inventory. Flints are commonly found in caves. To find a cave, head to the Great Sky Island to the Pondside Cave which has the coordinates (0171, -1634, 1378). Mine the ores, and eventually, Flints will drop. Just like diamonds, there is a certain drop rate associated with Flints, so you might have to do this several times.
Acquiring the Scimitar of the Seven and Daybreaker Shield
Once you’ve gathered all the materials, return to Isha in Gerudo Town. Talk to her and choose the “Let’s get to crafting!” option. Voila! You now have the Scimitar of the Seven and the Daybreaker Shield in your arsenal. After completing her dialogue, the Pride of the Gerudo side quest will be completed as well.
