Unable to change the default control settings in God of War PC? Is the Change Controls setting option disabled for you? Well, you are not the only God of War fan to face this issue. Turns out that players are unable to access the option to change the default control mapping when using a controller. Although the game has been praised a lot for its exceptional execution, we have come across a lot of complaints regarding its customizability. For example, players don’t have the option to change screen resolution directly. To change screen resolution, you will need to fiddle with the FidelityFX Super Resolution setting. Not straightforward at all! Looking for ways to change controls in God of War PC? Read this article to know a possible workaround.
God of War PC change controls option greyed out
Controllers are popular because of their ability to make things easier as far as playable character control is concerned. As a result, many gamers prefer using controllers to play popular titles on their PC. However, some genres like shooters are still best played with a keyboard and mouse pair. Plus, a PC title will need added support to be able to detect a controller. As it happens, God of War PC features controller support. You can use a PlayStation or even an Xbox controller to play the game. Being a PlayStation Studio creation and supporting Xbox controllers at the same time is rare. But, so is a PlayStation Studio creating a PC title in the first place!
But, it hasn’t been smooth for God of War PC players wanting to change their controller’s button mapping in the game. The basic process to change key bindings was meant to be easy – You will find a Change Controls option when you open in-game settings. But, the option appears disabled for players when they plug in a controller. So, if you use a keyboard and a mouse to play the game, only then can you utilize the option to change controls.
How to fix the issue with the Change Controls setting?
You cannot really fix it, unfortunately. The developers will have to enable the option of changing the default controls while using a controller. However, there’s a workaround if you only want to swap the Evade and Interact controls. Evade and Interact actions are, by default, bound to the A and B keys on your Xbox controller and X and Circle keys on your PlayStation controller. This workaround was suggested by a Reddit user, wulfrack. To do so, open Settings and then select the Gameplay option. Now, you can swap between the A and B keys or X and Circle keys under the Interact/Evade Setting.
