How do I get eggs for Kibble in Ark Survival Ascended without actually risking my life? This is a common question for Ark players before they have egg-producing tames. This is actually a very big issue because you do need kibble to perfect tame creatures later in the game like Gigas and Spinos, and this gives you a huge bonus of levels and stats when you tame them. Essentially, it makes sure your creatures actually come out at their highest level, and you don’t really lose any stats on them. Well, to satisfy your egg needs, you will need to tame an Oviraptor. And, if you don’t know how, consider reading this guide for more details.
There are tons of changes made to ASA that are better than ASE. This is in line with minor changes to Dinos made for ASA. Taming methods in this game for creatures such as the anky, argent or rhyniognatha are the same as in ASE. However, dino behavior has changed a bit. Unlike in ASE, Oviraptors can now collect eggs from tamed creatures as well. So, you must know how to tame it.
Ark Survival Ascended (ASA) Oviraptor Taming Guide: How to tame & get it?
Oviraptors are small, passive, and scared dinosaurs in ASA. They will actively avoid conflict and confrontation. They will run away from you when they spot you, and they are pretty fast dinos. You will need some points of movement or a faster tame to catch up with them. They are also really weak, so you don’t want to use too much force when taming them.
How to tame them?
Since they are a mid to late-game tame (realistically), you can use a bird like an Argent to pick them up and transport them. You can also run behind them on a mount or on foot and bola them. You will then need to knock them out to tame them. Since they are a knockout tame, you will need to use a tranq-based substance or something that deals torpor. Slingshots and clubs are effective, and so are tranq darts. We don’t recommend using a crossbow because Oviraptors can be really weak, and if they are not in full health, you run the risk of killing them with a single crossbow shot.
The irony of the tame is that to tame them, you need fertilized eggs. You can find them in and around the wilds of the Island. The better the quality (larger) of the creature’s egg, the quicker they get tame and the fewer eggs it takes to tame. Once knocked out, place eggs in their inventory, and they will tame right up. You will need to guard them because literally anything aggressive attacks them, and they are very prone to dying.
What happens after they are tamed?
Once tamed, you can set it to steal eggs for you. They can steal both fertilized and unfertilized eggs from wild and tamed dinos. They essentially collect eggs for you, and you can then use the eggs for kibble. They are also a known cheese to get Wvyern eggs (if and when Wyverns come to ASA), so having some of them really can’t hurt.
