Can’t link your Steam account to Battlefield 2042? Greeted with an error code 102115? If yes, here’s an article just for you! The Steam account error code is notorious and confusing. The EA team has, however, posted a few fixes which you may want to try. Keep reading this article to know what the developers suggested.
Battlefield (BF) 2042 Can’t link Steam account error code 102115
Upon trying to launch Battlefield 2042 from Steam, peeps are facing an annoying bug. On pressing the Play button for Battlefield 2042 from Steam Library, Origin opens up, and the player is asked to log in again. But, logging in doesn’t trigger a positive result. Instead, it throws an error which looks like this: {“error”:”invalid_request”,”error_description”:”pc_machine_id is missing”, “code”:102115}
Players are dismayed by this error. It is not even letting peeps open and play Battlefield 2042. The error looks like an account mismatch issue. Buying the game on Steam should link both your Steam and Origin accounts to the game. But somehow, your Origin account is not able to verify the “pc machine id”. Of course, this is an error that needs to be addressed by the developers for a swift resolution. A community manager on EA Answers HQ had some quick troubleshooting tips to share:

Uninstall the Origin app.
First, uninstall your Origin app from your PC. Restart your PC, and then try launching Battlefield 2042. If this doesn’t help, try the next tip.
Run a clean boot of your PC
Here’s how you can clean boot your PC on Windows 10:
- Open the Start menu.
- Type msconfig or System Configuration. Click to open the System Configuration window.
- Next, click on the Services tab.
- Check the box to Hide all Microsoft Services.
- Click the Disable all button.
- Next, click on the Startup Tab > Open Task Manager.
- Right-click on each of the programs that load up in the list and select Disable.
- Close the Task Manager window.
- In the System Configuration window, click OK.
Doing the above will clean boot your PC. Try launching Battlefield 2042. If it doesn’t help, make sure you re-enable your startup programs to avoid issues with your system. To do so:
- Follow the steps above again till step 6, where instead of disabling, right-click and enable all of your programs.
- Then click Apply and restart your PC.
The methods suggested by the community manager didn’t seem to help out anyone, but you can try them anyway. Peeps who reported the bug found it easier to refund the game on Steam and buy it from Origin instead. It seems the error affects the linking between Steam and Battlefield 2042. Since a community manager noted the issue, it should have reached the developers by now. We will have to wait for them to deploy a working fix to this bug. Till then, buy the game on Origin instead of Steam. If you have already bought Battlefield 2042 on Steam and are facing the error now, you can get it refunded.
