The most popular competitive mode or the Ranked Play used to let you invite your friends before, but the feature was discontinued in 2019. Fans of the F1 franchise are still not happy regarding this decision. The ranked mode in F1 2021 matches you with players at the same skill level and lets you compete with them. The results of this mode matter as it will determine your Skill Rating and rank in-game. Although there’s no official way to play with friends in this mode, there’s a workaround. You and your friend will have to press Search at the same time while starting a Ranked match. However, it won’t work most of the time and will get harder as you rank up.
Social Play
This is a casual mode in F1 2021 that lets you play with strangers or friends in friendly matches. A great mode for beginners, you can customize the player level and play in a lobby more suitable to you. Configure the lobby settings according to your preference. You can select browse to view the lobby list or create your own lobby. To invite friends to your lobby, look for an Invite Friends option at the bottom of your screen. Click on it if on PC or use the assigned button on your controller to select the Invite Friends option. Type in your friend’s F1 username. An invite will be sent to them and once they accept, you will see them in your lobby.
Leagues
Leagues are extremely customizable and configurable, making it the best online mode to play in F1 2021 for a group of friends. You can schedule races at your convenience while in a league. Invite friends to join your league by selecting the Invite Friends option in the MyLeague home. Type in your friend’s F1 username. An invite will be sent to them.
Two-player career mode
In the famous two-player career mode, you will have to configure a few things. You will have to set up a character and decide whether you and your friend want to race co-operatively for a team or compete for wins and contract offers.
