Reasons for the login error:
For those of you who don’t know, your FAFSA password needs to be reset every 18 months. If you fail to do so, your password will expire and will prevent you from logging in. The problem can also be due to a mismatch in the Social Security Number. Luckily, this can be changed easily and you will be logged into your account in no time! Take a look at the possible fixes given below.
Fixes for FAFSA not letting you login:
1) Create a new password:
You can easily select a new password to replace your expired one. On the FSA ID home page, select Edit my FSA ID. Change your password to continue using the service. If you do not remember your username or password, you can also select the Forgot password option. This is the easier way to go about this. Admitting to losing your password will prompt you to create a new one. That means, you ultimately renewed your login credentials for FAFSA. After resetting your password, you will be able to login to your FAFSA account easily. Give it a try!
2) Social security administration:
Every applicant’s FSA ID is compared with their Social Security Number. This procedure can take 1-2 days to complete. Meanwhile, cross check the social security information you have entered. If you receive a notification saying that your Social Security Number doesn’t match the FSA ID, you will have to take a closer look at the information entered by you. Check your name, social security number and date of birth. Make sure that these values are entered correctly.
If the above-mentioned information did not help you get into your FAFSA account, try calling Federal Student Aid Support at 1-800-433-3243 for further support on the matter. It could be a glitch or bug in the server that is causing the problem and may require official attention.
