How to fix the “could not connect to Steam network” error (2022)?

You will encounter the “could not connect to steam network” error when you will try to log in to your Steam account. This error can be occurring due to several factors. Therefore, if you are one of the users that cannot connect to the Steam network, you can try these fixes:

1) Change Steam’s Internet Protocol from UDP to TCP

Find the shortcut for Steam and open its Properties by right-clicking on it. Now, go to the Shortcut tab. Here you will find an option called Target. Now, go to that tab and just enter “-TCP” at the end of the target’s address. It should read like “C:\Program Files (x86) \Steam\Steam.exe” -TCP.” After this, click on OK and then launch the Steam client.

2) Check your internet connection

Make sure that your internet connection is working properly. Also, go to any network speed testing website and see if your upload and download speed is stable.

3) Reinstall the Steam Client

Go to the Steam shortcut and right-click on it to find the location of the main files. You can do this by clicking on the “Open file location” option. Now, deleted the files such as app cache, config, and bin. However, do not delete the Steamapps, Userdata, Skins, Steam.exe, and Cefn files. Launch Steam.exe and wait for it to re-download the deleted files and update itself.

4) Update the network driver

Go to the Device Manager by pressing the Win+X key. Now, go to the Network Adapters and check if any network adapter needs driver updates. If yes, then install them and restart your system. This may fix the “could not connect to steam network” error.

5) Network Reset

Press the Windows key and search “Network Reset” in Windows 11. Now, go to the first search result and a Window will open. Click on the Reset Now option.

6) Run Steam with Administrator Privileges

Search for the Steam app and right-click on it. Now, launch the app by selecting the “Run as administrator” option. This can also solve the “could not connect to steam network” error in your system.

7) Disable your Antivirus temporarily

Go to your Antivirus or Windows Defender and disable the service permanently. You can enable your third-party antivirus or Windows Defender if the client starts working again.

8) Restart your system

You can also restart your system to fix the “could not connect to steam network” error. Sometimes, the error may be occurring due to a random temporary issue.

9) Check Server Status of Steam

This error can also be caused if Steam’s servers are under maintenance. So, make sure to check the server status of Steam first then launch the client.

These are the fixes you can use to fix the “could not connect to steam network” error while accessing your Steam client. Also, do not forget to visit Androidgram for the latest updates in the world of tech and gaming.
