How to invite and play Rocket League with friends?
Rocket League features a very user-friendly party system when it comes to multiplayer. The game features two teams – each team can host up to 8 players. Starting the game without a party will trigger online matchmaking, and you will find yourself teaming up with and against random players. However, if you want to team up with your friends for an online match, follow the steps below.
Add a friend to your list
You will need to add your friend to your friend list before you send them a party invite. If you haven’t added him/her yet, do the following:
1) Open your friend list.
2) Now, select the Add Epic Friend option.
3) Type in your friend’s epic ID and confirm.
4) Let your friend accept your request.
Note: You will find your Epic/Rocket ID under your username at the top of your friend list.
Create a Party
Once you have added the friends you want to party up with to your list, you can go ahead and create a party:
1) Select the Create Party option at the bottom of your lobby screen.
2) Now, select the friend’s Epic ID and then choose Invite.
3) Your friend will see an invite pop-up at the bottom right of their lobby.
Note: You can also check for party invites from the Notification tab in the Friend List window.
You can also join your friend’s party in the same way as above. Select the green checkmark option on the pop-up party invite to accept a party invite request from your friend.
Note: Rocket League is cross-platform. This means that you will be able to team up with and against players on different platforms- PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch. Crossplay is enabled by default. You can visit Settings > Gameplay > Cross-Platform Play to re-enable or disable it.
Private Match
You can also host a private match between you and your friends. Select the Start button in the lobby screen and then choose Private Match. You can then customize the match settings from the next window. Send the name and/or password to your friend(s), so that they can join your match. If your friend creates a private match, use the name and password they sent to join their match.
