Settings up shortcuts for Steam can be tricky. So, if you are wondering, how to pin Steam games to taskbar on Windows PC, here is your answer.
Pinning applications to the taskbar makes it easy for the user to access them. Apps that are used very frequently can be pinned to the taskbar for easy access without having to load a bunch of clients first. The same thing applies to the games you download through Steam. Now, if you are regular at playing video games, this is something you can make use of to access the games easily. This can be helpful especially if you play a specific game more often. You can pin your favorite game from the Steam library onto the taskbar. This will save you some time as you won’t have to launch Steam every time before launching the game.
Take a look at the steps to pin a Steam game to your taskbar given below. Find out which works best for you so you can use it in the future for other games as well.
How to pin Steam games to Task bar on Windows PC:
1) By launching the game:
This is the easiest way to pin a Steam game to your taskbar on Windows. You have to launch the game from the Steam library. Once the game is launched and ready to play, press the Windows key on your keyboard. It will be between the “Ctrl” and “Alt” keys on your keyboard. This will open up the taskbar. Since you haven’t yet closed the game, you will be able to see the game logo in the taskbar. Right-click on the game logo and select ‘Pin to Taskbar’. This will pin that game to the taskbar and you won’t have to launch Steam to play the game.

2) Create shortcut:
Open Steam and go to ‘Library’. Click on the game you want to pin to the taskbar. Now click on the cog icon that is on the right side of the game title. In the drop-down, hover over ‘Manage’ and select ‘Add desktop shortcut’. This will add a shortcut to the game on your desktop. Now, right-click the game icon on your desktop and select ‘Pin to taskbar’. This will be helpful if you haven’t already created a desktop shortcut for that game.
3) Try this user-suggested workaround if you are on Windows 11:
Create a new folder anywhere on your PC. Keep the location of this file open. Now, open a new file explorer window and locate Steam’s executable file. It is usually in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam. Copy the exact location of steam.exe file. Now, right-click on the new folder you created before and hit Properties. In the text box beside Target, paste the location of steam.exe which you copied in the previous step. Next, hit the space bar and type this: ‘-applaunch xxxxxxx -nosplash’.
Replace “xxxxxxx” with the game’s Steam ID above. You can find the Steam ID on the game’s Steam URL. For example, Forza Horizon 5’s Steam URL is ‘store.steampowered.com/app/1551360/Forza_Horizon_5/’ and its Steam ID is 1551360. Once done, save changes and try pinning the game to your taskbar.
