If your friend is hosting the server and you are unable to join and see the 524 code,
1) In the Roblox app, open Roblox Settings (top-right). Select Privacy Settings and scroll down. You will see an option called Who can invite me to a VIP server?. Under that option, select Everyone instead of Friends. Save and close the settings. Now, your friend will be able to invite you to his/her VIP server.
2) Next, look for your friend’s private server – search for your friend’s Roblox username. Click on Join to join their server.

If you are hosting the server and your friend is unable to join and sees the 524 error code,
If your friend is unable to join, you (server host) have to check the private server settings – Open the game’s page, and click the Servers tab. You will see three dots on the right side of the server you created. Click on the three dots and select Configure. Now, to allow all friends to join the server, check the box beside Friends Allowed option. Or, if you want to invite selected friends, go to the Invited Players section and type in the username of the friend you want to allow. Then, click Add. That’s it. Your friend will now be able to join your server without the error code 524.
