Steam Remote Play black screen with cursor issue: How to fix it

Struggling with the Steam Remote Play ‘host is busy’ error? Then you have come to the right place for the solution. Steam’s Remote Play feature allows you to play your favorite games with your pals without them having to own those games. One person purchases the game and the whole squad can enjoy it. There could be several reasons for the ‘host is busy’ error. These causes vary from system to system and could be from both the host and client’s sides. Generally, a simple system restart can fix this issue but for many folks, the problem persists even after a reboot. Before we go on and tell you about the solutions, let’s talk a little bit about the Steam Remote Play feature. This option is Steam exclusive and lets you enjoy a multiplayer game with your pals. But how is it different from other multiplayer games? Well, with this feature, only one person is needed to buy the game, and the other guys can be invited through Steam. Steam Remote Play ‘host is busy’ error: Fixes & Workarounds.

There are a couple of solutions to fix the Steam Remote Play ‘host is busy’ error. Note that these methods might not work for everybody. With that out of the way, let us proceed with the article.

1) Restart your PC and also ask the host to restart their system as well.
2) Ask the host to check their internet connection. Everyone will need good, high-speed internet to play a game through Steam Remote Play.
3) If you are the host, then press the Ctrl+Shift+Esc buttons to open the Task Manager. Now, close any other game that may be running in the background.
4) Also, make sure to close any other app that might be hogging resources like web browsers or Discord.
5) Launch Steam and click on the Steam option on the top-left. Now, go to Settings> Remote Play. Here, make sure that you have checked the Enable Remote Play option. Next, unpair all the connected devices and then pair them again.

6) If you are playing the game on multiple monitors, then try running it on Windowed mode and set it to one monitor. Now, check if it solves the issue.
7) For the Mac users, the only solution so far is to ask your WIndows PC friend to host the game from their system. This is a rather expensive solution because they will need to purchase the game first.
8) If you are using the Steam Link device or the app, try restarting them as well.
9) In the end, it is also possible that Steam’s servers are down. So don’t forget to check that as well.
