cps in Minecraft

Do you want to know what CPS means in Minecraft and what significance it has towards the gameplay? Then continue reading the rest of the article.

CPS essentially means clicks per second. This refers to the number of times a player can click their mouse in a second. This value is not important just for Minecraft, but for any other game that demands the player to click for every attack. This greatly applies to Minecraft as the player has to press the left click every time they want to attack. Moreover, there is a delay in the number of clicks that will actually register as a successful attack.

Minecraft PVP is a very prominent genre of Minecraft gameplay. Many Minecraft creators establish their entire brand around PVP and other mini games. Once a player gets bored of regular survival Minecraft and logs into a public server, there’s no coming back. However, to successfully fight against the players online, you will have to work on your PVP skills. The online servers mostly prefer the 1.8 PVP type where there is no cool down on the weapon. Players can swing their sword rapidly without having to worry about it reloading which is the case in later versions. The most important aspect in this scenario is how fast you can click. That means you should have a decent CPS when going to battle against a player in Minecraft.

Information you might need:

As mentioned earlier, there is a slight delay between the clicks and the attacks. Hence a player must train themselves to click as many times as possible within a second. The higher your CPS the better. Generally, good Minecraft PVP duelists have an average of 6 CPS. If you manage to achieve a CPS around that range, you will have decent performance on almost any public server. Of course, the average CPS will keep on increasing as time goes by. But continuously practicing helps you keep up with the curve.

This completely flips around for present Minecraft PVP tactics. The change in the loading speed for the primary weapons in Minecraft make spamming worthless. It doesn’t matter how high your CPS is, the rules for Minecraft 1.9 PVP are different. Players need to wait for the weapon to load completely before launching another attack. Axes have double the loading time as swords. But, axes can be used to disable shields. There are various combinations that the player needs to consider. This is only feasible in a 1V1 situation. However, on public servers, 16 players on average join a mini game lobby. In a game where everyone is your enemy, you cannot wait for your axe to load. Hence, players prefer the 1.8 PVP style and that is why having decent CPS is important to survive on public Minecraft servers.
