PS4 Orange Light

Wondering what the orange light means for PlayStation consoles? If you have been seeing a blinking or a steady orange light on the power indicator of your PS4, it indicates that your console is either entering the rest mode or in the rest mode. Want to know more about rest mode in PS4? Read this article till the end to know what rest mode is and how to interpret the related orange light indicator.

PlayStation is one of the most popular console brands, and we probably are being repetitive by saying that. However, it’s only justified to talk about how the console industry grew in the last decade. But it wasn’t a great situation for Sony during the pandemic when the company wasn’t able to meet consumer demands. PlayStation’s latest is the very powerful PlayStation 5, equipped to handle the most demanding of graphics and a standard FPS limit of 120. However, some users still own a PS4, waiting to get their hands on the latest PlayStation model.

Both PS5 and PS4 consoles have power indicators, which display lights of different colors to indicate status information. Such colors are restricted to certain situations and the indicator may exhibit different behaviors to signify issues. For example, a steady white light indicates a working PS4 but a blinking white light is a cause of concern. On the other hand, an orange light indicator, steady or blinking, signifies a hardware mode.

PS4 Orange Light

What is the orange light on a PS4?

As mentioned before, the orange light indicates Rest Mode. You can send your PS4 to Rest Mode when you don’t intend to use it for gaming, but want to charge your controllers or download/install games. Rest Mode saves power while allowing some (boring) tasks to be completed in the background. To enter Rest Mode, select the power button from the function screen and then choose to Enter Rest Mode. You can set your PS4 to Rest Mode from the Quick Menu or by pressing and holding the power button until you hear a beep. While entering Rest Mode, the power indicator will be a blinking orange light. When your PS4 has entered Rest Mode completely, the power indicator will be steady orange in color.

To turn on your PS4 from Rest Mode, simply press and hold the PS button on a paired controller or the PS button on the console. If you are unable to set your PS4 to Rest Mode or use its features, check whether you have enabled the checkboxes in Settings > Power Saving Settings > Set Features Available in Rest Mode. We hope this article answered your query about the orange light on your PS4. For more such articles, stay tuned to Androidgram!
