How to fix the Xbox friends list not showing issue:
1) Hard reset:
To hard reset your console, press and hold the power button for more than 10 seconds. When the Xbox turns off, disconnect all the power cables. Wait for a few minutes and connect all the power cables back. Turn on your Xbox to check if the friends list is repopulated. If you still can’t see your friends’ profile status as online, move on to the next step.
2) Power cycle router:
To fix any connectivity issues with your network, it is usually a good idea to power cycle your router. This is a very easy way to fix any temporary issues with your connection. Turn off your router and disconnect the power cables. Wait for some time and connect everything back. Turn on your router and check if the issue is resolved. If you still can’t see your friends list on Xbox, move on to the next step.

3) Relog into account:
Log out from your account on the Xbox that is facing this issue. Restart your Xbox and log in again. This should reset any errors related to your account settings. When you log in, you should be able to see your friends list and connect with them without any errors.
4) Remove your Account
You should also try completely removing your account from your Xbox console. Make sure that your Xbox does not store any details about your account. After removing your account completely, sign in again and check if the error persists.
4) Factory reset:
This is not the most advised method in this list. Many users have complained that their console hardware was affected by performing a factory reset. To put it clearly, according to some users, a factory reset is not a great idea for your device’s health in the long run. But if none of the above options work, your options are really narrowed down. We suggest that you wait a few days and hope that the problem solves itself. If the problem does not resolve within 48 hours, only then consider a factory reset. To perform a factory reset go to Profile and System > Settings > System > Console info. > Reset console > Reset and keep my games and apps. This will reset your console and solve the friends list error on your Xbox.
