Its compact design allows it to blend with your entertainment setup. It is used by many to enjoy television as well as play games on the biggest screen in their house. But, there is a problem with the device that we would like to note. Some users claimed that their Nvidia Shield refuses to turn on at all. When they press the power button on the remote, nothing happens. If you are facing a similar problem with your Nvidia Shield TV, keep reading the article. The list of fixes given below will help you solve the error rather quickly.
Fixes for Nvidia shield TV not turning on:
1) Power cycle the device:
Unplug the power cable from the Nvidia shield and wait for 30 seconds. Plug the power cable back and try to turn on your Nvidia shield. After monitoring all the user experiences discussed on online forums, it is safe to say that this step has the highest probability of fixing the problem for you.
2) Turn on CEC TV:
Some users also pointed out that having this setting toggled OFF can also be the reason for this error. To turn this setting on go to Display and sound > Power control > CEC TV. Toggle CEC TV on and restart your Nvidia Shield TV.
3) Cross-check the connections:
Make sure to check all the cables that go to the Nvidia Shield TV and come out of it. Check everything to see if the cables are connected tightly. Don’t leave any insecure ends. Now turn on the device again. If a cable in your setup was loose, this step will fix your problem.
4) Change your TV’s source input:
Almost every TV has more than one HDMI port. Change the HDMI port you use for the Nvidia Shield TV device. Also, change the input HDMI port through the TV settings. It is difficult to check if a port is not working just by looking at it. Hence, changing it is the best option. You may also want to use a spare HDMI cable. Now turn on your setup again. This time you should be able to see the Nvidia shield interface on the screen.
If the above doesn’t help, the HDMI IC Chip/Port of your TV may have blown off due to overheating. Contact a service center and check if they diagnose and fix issues with the HDMI port. You can also replace it yourself, but it could a tedious task for someone who hasn’t done this before.
