If you like experimenting with Minecraft and its mechanics, you will definitely want to install various mods and addons. Installing the mods that are already tested by other players and have high ratings is safe and won’t harm your game in any way. But, it is still a good practice to be safe and backup your Minecraft worlds. In case your Minecraft world corrupts due to the addition of any mods, it will be easy to get the world back through the backup. This article will be focusing heavily on Minecraft PE. So, if you are a Minecraft PE player that wants to know how to back up your Minecraft worlds, go through the rest of this article carefully.
Prepare the files for backup:
Before you can look for the files in your database, storing them on your device is important. It is easy to get back your worlds in Minecraft when they are being stored on your device and not in the app. This can be activated with a small change in your game settings. Open Minecraft on your Android mobile and click on your avatar on the main menu. Now select the icon that looks like a cog to open the settings.
On the right side of the screen, keep scrolling down until you see the option called ‘File Storage Location’. Select the dropdown that is under that option and select ‘External’. Doing this will save all your world files, addon files, and behavior packs on your device. This will let you access those files externally through your device storage without opening the game. This will let you manipulate these files later to bring the worlds that you may have lost.
How to make a backup of the worlds in Minecraft PE?
Now that the most important step is done, you should already see your missing worlds or backed up worlds after pressing play. However, if you still can’t see your old worlds, it is most probably because the new Minecraft version that you installed is not storing the game files in the same location as the prior. So you will have to manually look for those files and transfer them to the new location. Go to the files manager on your device.
Now go to the location where the game files are installed. It will most probably be named ‘Games’ by the system. If everything is correct, you will see two folders named Mojang. However, only one of them will have the actual APK installed. Your world file is in the one that does not have the APK. Open that file, copy all the data, and paste it into the new Mojang file. This will back up all of your Minecraft worlds in-game. This time when you open Minecraft on your Android phone, all your worlds will be available to play.
