Reports of Quest devices causing audio problems have started surfacing recently. According to the reports users are unable to hear any sound from their headset. The problem continues even if the users lug in external headphones. If your Oculus Quest 2 is unable to connect to your headphones or is having audio issues, follow the steps in this article. All the steps to fix this problem are given briefly to help you go through them quickly. Take a look!
Fixes for Oculus Quest 2 headset/headphones not working:
1) Check all the sound settings:
Go through the sound setting on your Oculus Quest 2. See to it that nothing is muted. Unmute all the sound settings, even on the external headphones. If the headphone you have connected to your Oculus headset has buttons on it to set the volume, make sure those are turned up as well. Now play something on the headset and check if the problem still persists.
2) Fully charge your device:
There can be problems with the audio output on Oculus Quest 2 if its battery is close to running out. Let it charge to 100% before trying to connect anything to your headset. Once it is completely charged, connect your headphones or use the headset as it is and check if the audio problems are solved. If the charge on your headset is not the issue, continue reading the article.
3) Change the sound settings back to default:
If you had changed any sound settings on your Oculus Quest 2, it might be the reason why your headphones aren’t working. Put all the sound settings back to normal. This is especially for the players who have connected their headsets to a PC. There are many sound options on a PC to mess around with which can be overwhelming for a new user. Deactivate all the enhancements and check if you can hear the audio.
4) Unplug headphones:
This is a good way to fix a glitched headset. With your headphones plugged in press hold the power button on your Quest 2 headset. When the power off menu pops up, select restart. As soon as your headset restarts, unplug the headphones. Do this quickly, right when you hear the distinct beep when restarting the Oculus. This time when you plug your headphones back into your Oculus Quest 2, everything should be working fine.
5) Use compatible headphones only:
There are a limited number of headphones that are compatible with the Oculus Quest 2. The headphones you can use with Quest 2 are –
USB-C headphones – Pixel USB-C Earbuds, Samsung Type-C Headphones, and OnePlus Type-C Bullets Earphones.
3.5mm audio jack – Google USB-C to 3.5mm Adapter, Samsung USB-C Headphone Jack Adapter, and Apple USB-C to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter.
