HUD (heads up display) in any game is crucial to keep track of the information that updates constantly. This includes your health, inventory, armor durability, and other similar stats. HUD in Minecraft is the same. The information that is constantly shared with the player right on the screen is health, hunger and a nine slot inventory. Players can also constantly see the durability of the weapons or tools in the hot bar. This information is necessary to play the game with utmost efficiency. Not being aware of information like the depleting hunger bar in Minecraft is not the most favorable scenario.
HUD in Minecraft:
As mentioned above, the HUD in Minecraft includes the hot bar with nine inventory slots, player health and hunger. The size and transparency of the HUD can be altered to suit your preferences. If you do not like a very opaque HUD, you can reduce its transparency. This will make the things in background more visible. To make the following changes, just go to the video settings in Minecraft. Click on the pause button at the top of the screen and go to Settings. From the left panel, select Video to open the video settings. There you will see the options to alter the look of your HUD. Either make it completely invisible or reduce its opacity. Also alter the GUI scale to reduce or increase the size of the HUD components.
Subtle changes can make a huge difference in the gameplay. Changes made to the HUD is usually due to tactical reasons. A smaller HUD means lesser things to block your vision. Competitive Minecraft players are often seen with a very small HUD, enough to keep track of the necessary info.
Other visual alterations:
Apart from the HUD in Minecraft, there are other visual settings that you can tweak to improve your gameplay. One of the major visual setting is the FOV. One might think that having a wider FOV would be great, but that’s not true. Setting your FOV to a value greater than 80 can cause eye problems if used for a long period of time. With increase in the FOV, the speed by which the contents on the screen move also increases greatly. So, set it to a value that does not hurt your eyes.
Another important setting is the brightness. Some players like to play Minecraft with the standard brightness. But if you like, you can turn up the in-game brightness to see clearly. You can at least see the mobs at night time walking towards you. Nobody likes jump scares!
Render distance is also a pretty important visual setting in the game. Turn up the render distance to load in a vast portion of your Minecraft world and if your computer can deal with it. Or else, turn it down to go a bit easy on your computer and decrease the lag while playing the game. There are many other visual settings that can improve the game drastically. Explore those settings for yourself and find what suits you the best.
