Did you get the invalid IP address warning in Minecraft? Here is why! Multiplayer is an eternal part of Minecraft that makes it ten times more fun. Every bit of playing with your friends makes the experience more worthwhile. The easiest way to enjoy playing with your friends is on public servers that have a ton of mini-games and content that you can go through. But, to make the experience more personalized, you can set up your very own Minecraft server. A private server usually has a limited amount of people that explore the same world as everyone else. However, to join exclusive servers like these, the players need to have the IP address that links to the server. Like the public Minecraft servers, the IP address for that server won’t be preinstalled. You will have to manually add the IP address in the ‘Add a server’ section.
Why does an invalid IP address warning appear in Minecraft?
The answer to this question is really very simple. The reason you are getting this error message or warning is that the IP address you entered for the allocated Minecraft server is wrong. You might want to cross-check the values that you put in the required fields. And server name is not one of them. A mistake in the server name doesn’t really matter since it will only be visible to you. However, the IP address is what actually connects you to it.
Another possibility that can lead to this error is the lack of necessary access. To join a private server, your account must be whitelisted by the operator. The operator has full control over who joins the server. Discuss the problem with the server operator. Let them know that you are not able to join the server because of the error. If they haven’t whitelisted you yet, ask them to do so. That should solve the invalid IP address problem for that particular Minecraft server. Also, check if you are trying to join with your alternate account. Many players have an alternate Minecraft account where all the ‘Testing’ is done. If you forgot to switch accounts before joining the server, it will be a problem.
Things to keep in mind:
There are some servers that have the same name for different platforms. But that does not mean that the IP addresses will be the same on all platforms. For example, the server IP for Mineplex on PC for bedrock edition is mco.mineplex.com while the IP for pocket edition is pe.mineplex.com. This is true for many other Minecraft servers as well. Hence, definitely cross-check the IP address for the Minecraft server specific to your platform.
