haste in Minecraft

Whenever you think that your gear in Minecraft is at its best, you will be proven wrong by a potion effect. It cannot be stressed enough how important potions are in Minecraft. A seemingly unachievable task suddenly becomes a piece of cake with the help of the right potions. Unlike enchantments, any amount of potion effects can be stacked. This is the reason for the creation of many game breaking combinations in the game. My personal favorite is the turtle master potion with a few absorption hearts. Turtle master potion won’t let you take damage for 20 seconds and even if you do take damage, you have the absorption hearts to spare. This combination proves to be brutal in a combat situation and almost always helps to overpower the opponent. One such game breaking effect in Minecraft is Haste.

What is Haste?
haste in Minecraft

Haste in Minecraft is a potion effect that increases the player’s mining speed. This potion cannot be crafted like the other potions in the game which is understandable, given the strength of the effect. The only way to obtain haste is through a fully powered beacon. A beacon is an end game item that is obtained by killing the Wither. Killing the Wither drops the Nether star which can be crafted into a Beacon. A fully powered beacon lets the player select a secondary potion effect. This is where haste comes in. The haste effect in a beacon in Minecraft is denoted with a pickaxe sign. When you select it as the secondary effect on your beacon, you will see an increment in your mining speed when near the beacon.

A potion effect from a beacon will stay active in a 50 block radius from it. This is enough to mine out huge chunks quite easily. Mining 50 blocks in every direction will allow you to mine a 100*100 area. If you were planning to build something that requires a lot of material, using haste is not a bad idea.

What does haste do in Minecraft?

Haste in Minecraft just increases the players mining speed is an understatement. While it does increase a players mining speed, using it at its full potential can let you insta-mine blocks! Using haste 2 with a diamond or netherite pickaxe enchanted with efficiency instantly mines stone and other similar blocks. It feels really broken and overpowered. Digging out a 2 block tall 100*100 area will not take more than few minutes. Moreover, setting up a beacon near an ocean monument can help you collect the beautiful prismarine blocks with ease. Given that you have enchanted you helmet with aqua affinity. Mining will never feel the same once you mine with the haste or haste 2 effect in Minecraft.
